Writing Your Testimonial

A few gentle prompts — in case they're helpful  ·  The Food Phoenix  ·  Dr Catriona Walsh

This page is just for you. It isn't indexed by search engines — only people with this link can see it. Take your time, write in whatever way feels natural, and don't worry about getting it "right". There is no wrong way to do this.

First: thank you. Genuinely. Sharing your experience takes something — and it matters more than you might realise. Every person who finds The Food Phoenix is usually hunting for it at 2am, exhausted and unconvinced that anything will actually help. A real account from someone who has been where they are is worth more than any amount of polished marketing copy.

What follows is not a prescription. It's a set of prompts in case you're staring at a blank page and wondering where to start. Write as much or as little as feels right. Two sentences and two pages are equally welcome. There is no wrong way to do this.

What Other People Actually Want to Read

People considering working with Catriona are often at a similar crossroads to where you were. They've tried things. They've been dismissed. They're not sure whether to hope again. What cuts through for them tends to be the specific and the honest — not the polished.

They find it helpful to know:

  • Where you were before you started — what life actually looked like, not a clinical summary
  • What made you decide to reach out (and whether you had doubts)
  • What surprised you, good or otherwise
  • The concrete changes you noticed — physical, mental, emotional, or practical
  • What your life looks like now compared to before
  • Who you would recommend this to, and why

Some Prompts to Get You Started

You don't have to answer all of these. Pick the ones that resonate and ignore the rest. Feel free to reword them completely — these are just conversation starters, not a questionnaire.

Before you started…

  • "Before I started working with Catriona, I was…"
  • "What my day-to-day was like at that point…"
  • "I'd already tried… and it hadn't worked because…"

Making the decision…

  • "What made me reach out was…"
  • "I wasn't sure at first because…"
  • "What tipped me over the line was…"

What changed…

  • "Something that surprised me was…"
  • "The biggest change I've noticed is…"
  • "What working with Catriona felt like was…"
  • "A specific moment that stood out was…"

Recommending to others…

  • "I'd describe working with Catriona as…"
  • "I would recommend this to someone who…"
  • "If I could say one thing to someone on the fence, it would be…"

A Note on Privacy

You have complete control over how you're identified. The consent form gives you all the options, but the short version is:

  • You can use your first name only, initials, first name and surname, or remain anonymous entirely
  • Your location is optional — some people find it reassuring to know a testimonial comes from their own country; others prefer not to include it
  • Your age is optional
  • A photograph is always optional and never expected

If you have any questions about what will or won't be shared, just ask before submitting.

How to Send Your Testimonial

Email it to admin@thefoodphoenix.co.uk with the subject line "My Testimonial".

Include the completed consent form as an attachment (or sign and photograph it if that's easier).

If you'd like to have a quick conversation about it first, or would prefer to talk through your experience and have it transcribed, just say so. Whatever makes this easier is fine.

Prefer to fill in a form online? You can also complete the consent form digitally here:
Open the Testimonial Consent Form →
This is a secure Google Form. You can type your testimonial in the text field at the end if you prefer to do everything in one place.

Thank you, again. It means a great deal.
